I am opposed to the destruction of the Yoshimura Junzo campus at Aichi Geidai. This is a significant site for modern architecture in Japan and should be preserved as much as possible while allowing the university to expand as needed.

Junzo Yoshimura's buildings are art-forms not only in Japan but also here in the United States. People travel from all over the world to visit his creations. It would be a shame to destroy the work of this great architect.

I first saw Japanese modern architecture as a young architect in 1981 on an architectural tour. I was priviliged to have Japanese architects show our group their buildings and to meet the great architect Kenzo Tange. last year I heard the wise Fumihiko Maki address the Australian Institute of Architects Conference.
Japanese architecture old and new has inspired me and I think it is important not only to Japan but to people all over the world. I hope this petition leads to the reconsideration of the future of the Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music.
私は若き建築家として１９８１年の建築を巡る旅で始めて日本のモダン建築を見た。日本の建築家が彼らの作品を案内してくれるという幸運と偉大なる建築家丹下健三氏に会うという幸運を得た。去年優れた槙文彦氏がAustralian Institute of Architects の大会で話されるのを聞いた。日本の古い建築も新しい建築も私に刺激を与えてくれたし、日本にとってだけではなく全世界にとって大切であると思う。この請願が愛知芸大の為に再考を促すものとなってほしい。

To me it is unthinkable to destroy the wonderful buildings created by one of the world's great architects. It is bad enough that the Motel on the Mountain has been demolished. Don't make the mistake of razing another of the world's landmark structures
